2008 - 2009 Photo Instructional Workshop ScheduleHocking Hills Spring Photo Workshop The workshop will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Bear’s Den Photography Center near Logan, Ohio. After a short orientation, photographers will depart to meet at the nearby Hocking Hills State Park for continuation of this interactive workshop. (Transportation not included.) Comprehensive field sessions will provide a great hands-on experience at Old Man’s Cave while hiking through the gorge and along part of the cave’s rim trail. Participants will see and photograph some of the Park’s most impressive natural features, including two waterfalls and the cave for which this the area is named. Photographers must be able to hike unassisted and able to climb stairs for this particular workshop as the trail at Old Man’s Cave is not fully handicap accessible. Endurance rating is moderate, though our pace will be slow. Instructors will offer assistance in manual metering, understanding exposure, creative composition, and many other important photography techniques. Instructors also plan to share field tips for optimizing outdoor photography and getting better shots. Both digital and film photographers are welcome. Handouts and lunch are included in the registration fee. Hocking Hills Digital Boot Camp Digital Boot Camp will begin at the Old Bear's Den Photography Center near Logan, Ohio, but will include outdoor field sessions in the neighboring Hocking Hills State Park. Handouts and lunch are also included. Photoshop 101 for Beginning Photoshop User Lunch is also included in the workshop fee. The workshop facility features auditorium-style seating, as well as several large tables for those preferring to work from a flat surface (first come/first serve for table space). Lessons are projected onto a large screen, which provides easy viewing of tips and techniques. The class will be held at the Old Bear’s Den Photography Center near Logan, Ohio, close to the Hocking Hills State Park. So for those who want to make a weekend trip, there will be plenty of photo ops for those arriving on Saturday. Upon request, we will provide a Visitors Guide and a list of suggested ph Hocking Hills Summer Nights - "High Impact in Low Light" Learn more about getting effective results in low light with your camera. See successful examples of long exposures, painting with light, wireless flash, and the use of high ISO speeds. Then join the group in an interactive painting-with-light photo shoot in a designated area of the Hocking Hills State Park, and a special low-light scenario using a combination of ambient light, lanterns, and wireless flash units with props and a model. This workshop will give photographers greater insight and confidence in the world of low-light photography. Digital cameras are recommended for this workshop. A cookout and handouts are included in the workshop fee. Contact our office for lodging recommendations. BONUS: Those who stay in the Hocking Hills may also want to take advantage of our special bonus segment the next morning for only $35. Digital workflow and file management will be covered. Plus, it's a great opportunity to get feedback of your low-light images taken during the Summer Nights workshop. Digital Workflow (Bonus to Summer Nights Workshop) Those who participate in the Summer Nights workshop (listed above) may want to take advantage of this bonus segment. This mini-workshop is especially beneficial for the digital photographer who brings a laptop and downloads images from the night before. Instructors will discuss the benefits of embedding certain file information, renaming files, and proper and consistent workflow. This course steps through their process in a way that enforces good Photoshop habits and workflow techniques, while getting great results! Laptops are welcome, but are not required. Participants will receive handouts to follow along, plus a DVD of the lessons to keep and use for practice at home. Lunch is also included in the workshop fee. The workshop facility features auditorium-style seating, as well as several large tables for those preferring to work from a flat surface (first come/first serve for table space).
